Week 15 & 16

At last, everythings done. I've completed my final year project and even better, i just finish my final exam just now. I'm seriously speechless and have no idea how to express myself here. Hmm, to make it simple, let's just say I'm damn excited!

Now, to prepare for job. I'm aiming for a 3D architectural visualization studio or related freelance work. This is the main thing that keeps me going, now i hope that things will get a lot more easier from here (which i really really doubt that).

Well, i don't have anymore things to say actually. Just want to wish all of my classmates the best for their futures, and also the lecturer's, don't care foreign or locals, i would like to give a million thanks to you guys (lecturers) on basically everything that you have thought us. Thank you.

Week 14

Wow, i never knew that my alpha test presentation went so well! I volunteered to be the first presenter cause there's still a lot of students haven't show up, so i don't want to waste anymore time and want to get it done as fast as possible. During the presentation, suddenly all the remaining students came and on top of that there are two people from RND center showed up. Fortunately I'm able to calm myself down and the presentation went very well, including the questions and answers section. I manage to answer everything and the two RND people seems impressed with my project that they invite me to submit my project for a national creative multimedia competition (APITA). I was really excited, and really happy. After all the hard work, it seems that my effort is not going to be wasted. I just want to say thank you and really grateful to Allah S.W.T.

But my project is still not yet completed, there are still around 20-30% to do more. So back to work, and good luck to others.See ya..

Week 13

One more week to go before the Alpha test, surprisingly I'm quite calm. I don't know why, maybe its because I've showed my project's progress to Miss Jaya on Tuesday, and she said I'm almost there, and she also pin-points some suggestions that may improve my project, well basically there are no negative comments, which is a big relief for me. As of right now, my project has passed the 50% line of the project development and I can slowly do my project without rushing anything that might affect the project outcome.

As for the Final Year Project class, Miss Jaya continues to explain more regarding the preparations for us to find jobs after graduating. In one of my post earlier, Miss Jaya explains on the importance of CV and how to prepare it, for this week's class she explains about how to prepare for interviews. Well basically, its what I've known already; wear formal, groom, be confident, research about the company's background and etc. And she also mentioned that not every company wants to see your certificate, like in multimedia fields, certain companies wants to see your portfolio's and what are the skills that you possessed.

Well that's all for this week.Until next time.

Week 12

Work, work and work. That's the main thing in my head now. As i mentioned in the previous post that there will be no FYP class for this week. So i should have extra time to try finish or at most progress a lot in this week. But then things did not go my way. I've involved in an accident last Sunday, and the front bumper of my car fell off, which is not a good thing. As I'm writing this week's blog, I'm somewhere at Kajang, a small town near to Selangor border waiting for my car to be fix. This is definitely not what i planned last week, and I'm seriously tense regarding my FYP project. Honestly, there are still a lot of stuff need to be done, and I seriously running out of time now.

I still have flash intro, 3rd concept model (main page, gallery, 360 visualizer) and the upload section. Basically almost 40% more in order for me to finish. Only god knows how i feel now.

Well, i think thats all that i want to express for now. I should be going and check my car's condition. Until next week, bye!

Week 11

Only 2 weeks left before the Alpha Test, and I still haven’t reach 50% of my final year project yet. I’m really having a stressful situation here. My notebook seriously can’t handle the rendering task of my vehicle models. For the last 3 days I rendered my first vehicle model rotation video, and the output is not what I have expected. Precious time wasted. Take note that I have 3 models in my website, and I still can’t get the first model video right. Currently I render the video again and hopefully the outcome will be good this time. If only I have a supercomputer to do all this, then most probably I’ll be 90% done by now.

Well for yesterday’s final year project class, I showed Miss Jaya what I’ve done and it seems that Miss Jaya have no problems with it. I think that’s the only good thing that happens to me this week. By the way, there will be no final year project class for next week since Miss Jaya knows our current situation, she decided to give us time to finish our project as much as possible before showing it to her again on week 13.

Week 10

Alright, for this week’s class, Miss Jaya taught us about the importance of Curriculum Vitae. I was asked about mine, and I told her that I’m not really satisfied with it because it’s outdated. Then she explains that a CV should be updated every 6 months in terms of everything including pictures, skills or working experience. Honestly, I don’t think many people do that, but then it’s a good thing to know and I might do it in the future. Besides that, she explains about preparing different CV’s for different companies based on which wants that we want to apply, this is because different companies have different kind of criteria that they want from employees. I believe that a lot of people just use one CV and send it to many companies, which I’m one of those people too.

Anyway, this is quite an interesting topic, and I surely will create a new CV and a proper one instead of using the CV form provided by the faculty.

Regarding my final year project, I managed to find the actionscript codes for my second flash game, and after 50% modifications, it’s complete. Now I just have to create the game graphics, which is very tedious. But then after submitting the proposal last week, I can relax and calm doing my project. Hopefully, the output of the project will be something nice and professional.

Week 9

Finally, I’ve finished my FYP documentation. After couple of times been corrected by Miss Megan, I managed to done the last amendments before Miss Megan goes back to Australia. This is certainly a big relief for me, now I can concentrate doing my FYP system.

Well talking about the system/project, there are no new progresses since Miss Megan came, due to the time that I spent to finish the documentation and other writing assignments that requires Miss Megan guidance. About my FYP documentation, Miss Megan has given good comments about it, she said that it’s a good proposal and solid unlike past semester students which she said too ambitious and not very clear.

Honestly, I thought the documentation was going to be 10000 words because that's what I’ve been told, but then Miss Megan told me that I only need to put-in the main points and relevant information because logically she said, I’m not doing a master thesis. So 10000 words for a pre-proposal is too much she said.

Anyway I would like to thanks Miss Megan for the guidance that she gave us during her 2 weeks visit here in Sunway.

Week 8

Back to school!! Yay, this is something that i honestly did not look forward too, but then its a bit of surprised for what had happen to me this week. Well basically, last week's break its not comforting at all. I haven't get enough rest and sleep throughout the week because of assignments, and I'm quite disappointed at my own work development. Kinda scared to show my work to our visiting lecturer, Miss Megan. But then, her presents gave me a 'cure', i felt more relaxed now after had a discussion with her regarding final year project. She postponed our documentation submission so that we can submit quality work to her not just craps and rubbish. Her explanation clears everything that been bugging me since i got the question (documentation outline paper) paper. In addition, i showed her my project's interface and i receive a good comment on how to improves the look and maybe considering a new feature that can raise my project up the professional multimedia standard. But still, a lot of work still need to be done..so work hard everyone, see ya.

Week 7

Again, I missed Miss Jaya’s Final year project class and I really regret that I overslept that morning. Well, nothing can change the fact that I didn’t come and I’ve been called by the course coordinator to explain why I didn’t attend the class. It was frustrating for me since this is my final semester and its only 2 more months before I graduate. Well continue to the main topic, since I didn’t come for this week’s class, according to my classmates, for this week’s class, Miss Jaya discussed about the stress management and various stress management strategies. Well from the article regarding stress management that I received from my classmate, what I have read and understand is that stress can be both good and bad; this depends on how the individual handle their stress. For example some people consider stress as a challenge for them to achieve their goals thus they energetically rise up to the challenge and go for success, while some are very stress sensitive and can’t accept any kind of stress at all. But too mush of stress can’t be good because it could affect that person’s health mentally and physically. This week’s article explains couple of stress management techniques such as:-

a) Avoid unnecessary stress

  • Learn how to say “no”
  • Avoid people who stress you out
  • Take control of your environment
  • Avoid hot-button topics
  • Pare down your to-do list

b) Alter the situation

  • Express your feelings instead of bottling them up
  • Be willing to compromise.
  • Be more assertive.
  • Manage your time better.

c) Accept the things you can’t change

  • Don’t try to control the uncontrollable.
  • Look for the upside.
  • Share your feelings.
  • Learn to forgive.

d) Adapt to the stressor

  • Reframe problems.
  • Look at the big picture.
  • Adjust your standards.
  • Focus on the positive

Well there’s a lot more from where that came from such as healthy stress reducers and stuff like that, but it will be too long to list everything in here. So continue with final year project, I’ve done a pretty nice job in designing my system interface (well that’s what I think and I hope other’s too) since it is really what I wanted because there sometimes people didn’t get what they planned and intend to do. Now the sad part is that I haven’t start anything on the content yet. As for my documentation, I started to write my project goals and risk analysis as a start. Well back to the good news again. Next week is the semester break. I’m looking forward to it, not because I can relax but I want to take this opportunity to do as mush as I can for my project in hoping that I will at least finish 80% when the class starts back. So happy holiday’s guys.

Week 6

Hi again, it’s been a bad week for me this week, but I had worst. Well basically, I’m pretty messed up, I didn’t attend for Final Year Project class on Tuesday, due to high fever that I had on Monday, and at the same time makes me one of the students who did not show my Final year project progress to Miss Jaya, besides that I’ve had a test on Wednesday for my other subject which I’m not fully prepared. It’s like having a bad nightmare which came true! But within all this misery, I’ve started my final year project and it’s progressing nicely, which at the same time causing me another problem because i have nothing yet to post for the Final Year Project bulletin board. Hmm…what a week ha..?

Week 5

Well, the storyboard presentation went well, it’s just that Miss Jaya seems to have doubts in me finishing my final year project in time. That’s what I think actually, maybe because of her face expression during the Q&A section. Anyway, I’m going to start develop the system tomorrow since I have less than 6 weeks left to get the project done. And by Tuesday next week, I have to show Miss Jaya the progress of my project. So buckle up my seatbelt and off I go to ‘Hardworking Land’.

Meanwhile, talking about final year project stuff, the submission for the project documentation is on week 8, and this week is week 5! Looks like there’s going to be a lot of sleepless nights from now on, and for my fellow classmates, let’s burn the midnight oil together !!

Week 4

It’s the 4th week of my final semester, and I started to feel the heat and pressure of the assignments dateline. The nearest dateline is by next week. A lot of work has to be done in so little time.

By the way, for this week final year project class, Miss Jaya, has asked me to present my final project proposal to her. We’ve discuss about the project that I’m planning to develop, and what kind of features, elements, and software’s that I’m going to use later. I received a mixture of positive and a bit of negative comments from her, saying that my project has all the criteria needed and that my project will incorporate all the multimedia elements which is a good thing in making this project a success, but a little bit too ambitious due to the complexity of the features that I have suggested, and yet she insist me to re-think about the features and plan wisely. I personally accept her suggestion as a good advice. Also she has point out some issues regarding my features that I may have problems with.

And for all my beloved classmates,as a reminder, Miss Jaya, has asked us to draw our project concept (storyboard) for presentation next week! So boys and girls, no more slacking please...

Week 3

Yet another week that is full of boredom. Well basically there’s nothing to write about for this week due to the final year project class been cancel. But then again, a really good news that I just receive upon opening my email is that my second final year project title has been approved by the VU lecturers, which I’m very excited about that now I can start doing my final year project early and hopefully to finish it early. And to all my classmates which their title’s has also been approved, I wish good luck and work hard in doing your final your project.

Week 2

Here I am again, writing a blog of what’s happening in class and the surroundings every week. Well as everyone already know that this is the last semester for my batch and I just want to wish everyone whose in the same boat, good luck for the upcoming brutal attack of assignments and assessments that we’ll be facing in this last 4 months of our wonderful “learning” journey in Sunway University College.

To start this week blog, I just want to express my feelings to everyone how sad it is to know that my first final year project proposal has been rejected, and i'm on the brink of mental collapsed to think of another title within couple of days. By the way for this week class, Miss Jaya has pointed out couple of important points regarding copyrights acts such as:

• Use of copyright material called “fair use” which allows for quotes or samples to be used without express permission.

• And how to obtain permission to use copyright material from the web using ‘Obtaining Permission’ form

Well, that’s all for this week, hopefully my second final year project will be accepted.
